Bring your own device (BYOD)

"Bring your own device" (BYOD) refers to students bringing a personally owned device to school for the purpose of learning. Many students are already bringing devices such as phones, tablets and laptops to school and they are being used productively in lessons. Mudgee High School is introducing a BYOD Policy in 2017. This will provide useful information and guidelines for students and parents as to the correct usage and types of devices that would be most beneficial to the enhancement of student learning.

The chosen device would need to be able to connect to the school's DoE wireless network and perform, as a minimum, basic word processing and Internet browsing functions. Phones will no longer be considered an acceptable device. Device options and minimum software and hardware requirements will be on this website as will information about wireless requirements, availability of free software, how to connect your device and advice for students and parents on digital citizenship.

From the beginning of 2017, all students will be required to sign a BYOD Student Agreement that will stipulate how devices may be used at school and the consequences for non-compliance with these rules.

If you have any questions, please refer to the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) link before contacting the school directly.
